We had a very successful UNISCON 2009 – The 3rd International United Information Systems Conference.
We had 2 great Keynotes, 2 very interesting panel sessions and many regular presentations and poster presentations. A clear direction on how information systems will evolve in the next few years emerged as a result of various interactions. To manage the ever increasing complexity and to integrate various legacy systems in organisations, modelling of Information Systems is going to be a very important area. This will also lead to model based development of Information Systems, a paradigm that we need to start incorporating into our research and teaching. We also discussed what we need to model and how we need to model. The 2nd keynote focusing on “Process Modelling what really matters” highlighted the need to create models that users can understand and manipulate. In the final panel session we had experts presenting how Information systems can assist to solve a range of problems from business, environment, healthcare management etc and the need to develop models to create digital ecosystems in the emerging digital economy.

OPEN FORUM
At UNISCON 2009 we are having an Open Forum to hear the opinion of International and National Information Technology Experts about
How Information and Communication Technology can help us to address many problems that we face today?
Is Digital Economy x Digital Ecosystems - the panacea for our troubled World
This Open Forum will be moderated by Professor Simeon Simoff, Head of School of Computing and Mathematics at University of Western Sydney.
ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
UNISCON 2009 ("United Information Systems Conference") is the third in the conference series that is based on the idea to pool smaller but highly interesting scientific events on Information Systems to one large conference where people from different scientific backgrounds can
- present their research results,
- share their ideas
- and discuss about future trends in this interesting area.
In 2009 the following scientific events will be held with in the umbrella of UNISCON 2009:
- 8 th International Conference on Information Systems Technology and its Applications (ISTA 2009)
- 8 th International Workshop on Conceptual Modelling Approaches for e-Business (eCOMO 2009)
- 2 nd International Workshop on Model-Based Software and Data Integration (MBSDI 2009).
- 1 st Workshop on Analytics (Data Mining) for Health Informatics and Predictive Modeling.
Accepted and presented papers from the above first 3 events will be published in the UNISCON 2009 Proceedings. The UNISCON 2009 proceedings will be published by Springer as Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (LNBIP).
